Recommended prerequisite: SST-102 Fire Prevention and Firefighting: The Basics
When an alarm sounds, there are only a few minutes for everyone to get out safely, for no one to be left behind in a closed room and for those who need help to receive it. That only happens if someone has organised and trained the team beforehand. In this course for evacuation wardens, safety representatives and emergency team members, you follow a fictitious company in its head office building and the adjoining warehouse. Learn the emergency organisation and the tasks of each role: coordinator, evacuation wardens, first aiders, first response and support, including what is done day to day with escape routes, fire doors, fire extinguishers and attendance lists. Lead the evacuation of an area: react to the alarm, direct people, check toilets and closed rooms, close doors, do not use lifts, and accompany visitors and contractors. Organise the roll call at the assembly point, report who is missing and assist people with special needs, with personal emergency evacuation plans and refuge areas. Finally, prepare, observe and evaluate drills and turn the lessons into improvements. Aligned with ILO Convention C155, with NFPA 101 as a reference. Theory course: it does not replace drills, practice with fire extinguishers or first aid training. Includes an evacuation warden checklist, a roll call kit with a personal emergency evacuation plan and a drill observation checklist. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
