How do the remains of algae and plankton turn into oil and gas, and how do exploration teams find them thousands of metres underground? This course explains, in plain language, how hydrocarbons form, the source rock and the oil and gas windows, the petroleum system (reservoir, seal, trap and timing), the exploration methods, with a focus on 2D, 3D and 4D seismic and the measures that protect marine life, and the path from a prospect to the result of an exploration well: geological risk, samples, well logging, tests, discovery and appraisal wells. It includes a case study in a fictitious deepwater block. Aligned with IOGP Report 448 and the SPE-PRMS. Ideal for non-technical professionals and candidates for the sector. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
