Process diagrams are the language of every oil and gas facility. This course teaches you, step by step, to distinguish block diagrams, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), to recognise the symbols for vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers and tanks, to read line numbers and the piping class, to identify valves, their normal position and the safety devices (PSVs, rupture discs, ESDVs, blind flanges and spectacle blinds), and to interpret instrument bubbles and letter codes and a simple control loop, with alarms and trips. In the final exercise, you read the simplified P&ID of a production separator on a fictitious FPSO and mark the isolations for a maintenance job. Aligned with ISO 10628-1/-2 and ANSI/ISA-5.1-2024. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
