Recommended prerequisite: SST-101 Workplace Safety Induction (HSE Induction)
An excellent risk assessment on paper is not enough: real risks appear in the specific task, with that team, that equipment and those conditions. In this course for supervisors, team leaders and HSE technicians, you follow a team from a fictitious industrial maintenance company replacing a pump in a fuel depot. Understand where the job safety analysis (JSA) sits, between the organisation's risk assessment (HIRA) and the permit to work, and decide when it is needed. Carry out a JSA with the team: break the task into steps, identify the hazards of each step (energies, people, equipment, environment and interactions), and define controls using the hierarchy, with owners, critical controls, hold points and emergency arrangements. Communicate the JSA in the field with a briefing that confirms understanding, including different languages, new starters and contractors. Finally, practise dynamic risk assessment (stop, think, observe, act; "Take 5" type cards), the authority to stop work and the review of the JSA when conditions change. Aligned with ISO 45001 and the ILO Guidelines (ILO-OSH 2001). Includes a JSA sheet in Excel, a briefing guide and a dynamic assessment card. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
