Reducing headcount is one of the hardest decisions an organisation makes. Poorly prepared, it leaves scars on those who leave and on those who stay, and causes conflict and reputational damage; well prepared, it is fair, transparent and defensible. In this advanced course you will learn to plan a restructuring in line with ILO standards (Convention No. 158 and Recommendation No. 166) and international good practice: justify the reason, study and combine alternatives to dismissal, inform and consult workers' representatives in good faith, define objective and non-discriminatory selection criteria, conduct individual conversations with respect and support those who leave and those who stay. With an integrated case at a fictitious logistics company, decision scenarios, a selection matrix in Excel and downloadable templates. It does not cite national laws: the specific procedures depend on the law applicable in each country. Designed for human resources directors and legal teams. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
