Pipelines carry most of the oil and gas between fields, refineries, storage depots and ships, almost always out of sight, buried or on the seabed. In this course for midstream technicians and engineers and terminal operators, you follow the fictitious teams of Atlântico Sul Petróleos and Nova Rota Energia on a system linking an onshore field to an export terminal with a single point mooring buoy, and on a products pipeline between the Refinaria Litoral Norte and a storage depot. Learn to describe the types of line and the elements of a pipeline transport system, to explain the operation of pumping and compressor stations, block valves and remote control, and to recognise surge (water hammer) and batch transport. Plan, in theory, a safe pigging operation, relate integrity threats to the integrity management programme, cathodic protection, inspection and leak detection, and describe the ship-terminal interface and the response to a spill. The content is aligned with ISO 13623, the recommended practices API RP 1160 and API RP 1175 and the ISGOTT guide. A theory course: it does not replace practical training or the operator's authorisation. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
