Have you just joined a purchasing team, do you raise requisitions in your daily work, or do you simply want to understand how an organisation buys what it needs? This course gives you the foundations of procurement and the supply chain. You will see why buying well has a direct impact on cost, quality, lead time and risk, and learn to tell purchasing, provisioning, procurement and supply chain apart. You will follow the flows of materials, information and money in a factory, a hospital and a project, and meet first-tier and second-tier suppliers. You will classify purchases by category and work through the eight stages of the procurement cycle, from the need to supplier evaluation. Finally, you will interpret the concepts and indicators of modern procurement: value for money, total cost, lead time, service level, savings, contract compliance, sustainable procurement and digitalisation. With an international perspective, fictitious companies, interactive activities and a glossary to download.
