What rights and duties arise from an employment contract? In this course you follow the team at a logistics company and learn the fundamentals of labour law from an international perspective. You will learn what distinguishes an employment contract from a contract for services, the types of contract, the probationary period and the form of the contract. You will distinguish the duties of the employer and the employee, the limits of disciplinary power and the principle of equality and non-discrimination. You will apply the general rules on working hours, overtime, holidays and absences in a case study and gain an overview of pay and of the ways the contract can end. The course uses ILO conventions and recommendations as its reference and reminds you that the details always depend on the applicable law. It does not replace legal advice. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
