The standard a supervisor walks past is the standard the team accepts. In this course for supervisors, foremen and team leaders, you follow the first weeks of a newly promoted maintenance supervisor at a fictitious company working at a client's fuel terminal. Learn the supervisor's duties in safety, health and environment under the applicable law and the company's system, their influence on the team's behaviour, the importance of leading by example and the management of competence, including certificates, new and short-service employees. Plan the shift with briefings and safety talks, job safety analysis, checking of permits and isolations, equipment and PPE, simultaneous operations and shift handover. Observe work in the field and intervene on unsafe acts and conditions with a structured intervention conversation, recognise safe behaviour, use the authority to stop work and apply just culture. Induct and supervise contractors, drivers and visitors, communicate the site rules and manage the interface with the client. Finally, lead the first response to incidents (make safe, give aid, raise the alarm, preserve the scene), notify, support the investigation, follow up the actions and use simple team indicators, in a case covering a full shift. Aligned with ILO Convention No. 155, the IOGP Life-Saving Rules and safety leadership guidance, and ISO 45001. Includes downloadable templates: competence matrix, start-of-shift checklist, briefing card, simultaneous operations matrix, shift handover log, intervention conversation guide, contractor checklist, first response card, initial report and indicator dashboard. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
