Recommended prerequisite: RHU-206 Job Analysis and Job Descriptions
Why does one job pay more than another? In this course, designed for HR and compensation professionals, you will build the answer with a fictitious company: evaluate jobs by their content, turn the scores into a structure of grades and pay bands and keep it fair. Learn to distinguish internal equity from external competitiveness and to apply the principle of equal pay for work of equal value in ILO Convention No. 100. Compare the evaluation methods (ranking, classification and factor points) and apply a points method with factors, levels and weightings, calibration, documentation and appeals. Build grades and bands with a midpoint, range spread, overlap, pay policy line and compa-ratio, linking the structure to market data. Finally, deal with salaries outside the band, analyse the gender pay gap and apply pay transparency principles in an integrated case. Includes three Excel exercises with fictitious data. Always check minimum wages, collective agreements and the transparency rules of the applicable law. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
