Night shifts, long rotations at remote sites, journeys to the workplace, heat and overtime: fatigue is a real risk in oil and gas, mining, construction, logistics and round-the-clock services. In this course you will understand how sleep and the body clock work, what sleep debt and microsleep are, and why fatigue affects attention, reaction time and decisions. You will learn sleep and recovery habits adapted to shifts and rotations, including strategic naps, caffeine in moderation, food and hydration, and extra care when driving after a shift. Finally, you will practise recognising the signs of fatigue in yourself and in colleagues, the "am I fit for work?" self-assessment and how to report it, in a just culture. Aligned with ILO Convention No. 171 on night work and UK HSE guide HSG256 on managing shift work. The course does not replace individual medical advice. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
