Being an HSE technician is much more than carrying out inspections and filling in reports. It means building and managing a site's HSE programme, advising management and line managers, and earning the trust of workers. In this advanced course you learn to perform the role with competence and ethics, to keep a register of legal and other requirements and evaluate compliance, to draw up the annual HSE plan linked to significant risks, to manage the training matrix and critical certifications, to calculate and interpret leading and lagging indicators with quality data, to organise communication, worker consultation and the safety committee, and to prepare reports that lead management to make decisions. Aligned with the ILO-OSH 2001 guidelines, the ILO code of practice on recording and notification of occupational accidents and diseases, and ISO 45001 as references. With a continuous case at a fictitious open-pit mine, scenario-based decisions and downloadable Excel templates. The course is delivered in Portuguese.
